Wilanów Palace is the one of the most beautiful architecture monument in Warsaw called 'The Little Versaille' and one of most beautiful in Europe - it is classify to the s.c. zero class monument by UNICEF.The Palace was bought by The King Johannes The 3rd Sobieski ca 1676. Architects Tylman from Gameren, and later August Locci erect a summer royal palace, initially called Villa Nova, later renamed to Wilanów. St. Ann's Church was also built. Wilanów is a typical Baroque entré cour et jardin suburban residence. The palace is remarkable for its original architecture a blend of the European art with the Old-Polish building tradition.
Later owner was Elbieta Sieniawska, hetman's wife.
I am going to show here also some pictures taken not by me. I am born in Warsaw, but I have seen the Palace inside only once, with my English partner in 2007 - I had never time..
Wilanów was the last worth seeing monument in Warsaw which Yngve could visit - it was no more time. We could not see it inside - it was Monday, which we forgot. We walked then around the park, we saw a.o. The Orangery and palms in big pots outside.

Interior wall paintings and carvings are combined with classical symbols conveys a great sense of royal grandeur and speaks to the testimony of the king's triumphs.
From time to time, the palace was improved by all subsequent owners who redesigned interiors or the garden, or adapted surroundings of the estate to their needs, tastes, or prevailing styles. Further rebuilding was undertaken in 1805 by Stanisaw Kostka Potocki who set apart one section of the palace for the first public museum in Poland.
After John III Sobieski's death (1696), his sons inherited the palace. Since 1720 it became the residence of a succession of the famous noble dynasties: Sieniawski, Czartoryski, Lubomirski, Potocki and Branicki. Since 1730 till 1733 it was a residence of Augustus II "the Strong", Elector of Saxony and King of Poland.
Nationalized after the World War II, renovated and furnished with most of collections lost during the war, Wilanów opened to the public in 1962.

The exhibition is open from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM everyday.
During tourist season (June 15 September 15) the exhibition is open to the public on Sundays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
